Discover the hidden gem of Europe and find out more about the Bosnian holidays available now. Here are the best activities in Bosnia we think every adventure traveller must try.

White water rafting

Bosnia has a myriad of different rivers of all levels making it a paradise for white water rafting, a popular leisure activity for tourists and locals alike. Whether you’re looking for a short ride along a calm river or a long one in a wild river, Bosnia has everything to offer and rafting there is as good as anyone could ask for. For adrenaline junkies to truly feel the excitement and power of rushing water, Una River is the ultimate choice, which is the natural border between Croatia and Bosnia. This magnificent river will take your breath away no matter how much you’re used to such natural beauty, with its stunning clear green waters surrounded by dense forests. Una has an 18m high waterfall called Strbacki Buk Waterfall, one of the highest ones in this part of Europe, and all tours start below it. Water flows in this river quite strongly even in the summer, so rafting there any time of the year is possible.

If you’re opting for a calmer rafting ride, check out Neretva River about one and a half hour away from the surreal city of Sarajevo. The Neretva offers a peaceful ride that includes some cultural sightseeing as the tour flows through Mostar under the iconic Stari Most Bridge.

Skiing

The slopes of the mountains are suitable for skiers of all levels and surrounding resorts offer all required facilities from equipment rentals to ski shops and restaurants.

The mountain of Joharina is a must for every skiing enthusiast, which hosted the women’s alpine skiing events in the 1984 Winter Olympics. Joharina’s peak is the second tallest of Sarajevo’s mountains at 1,915 metres, offering 20 kilometres of groomed slopes for alpine skiing. A more challenging mountain is Bjelasnica, with the steepest slopes in the country. Its peak is at 2,067 meters providing a fast and exciting 10-minute ride to the base at 1,200 meters.
