Next, head to the Old Town (Ichari Shahar) which is lined with small mosques nestled between terrace cafes and grand turn-of-the-century architecture. We then visit the Palace of Shirvanshahs which is a royal palace from the 15th century and is one of the finest surviving examples of Shirvan architecture. Later, visit the State Museum of Carpets and Applied Art. Housed in the former Lenin Museum, this impressive collection displays rare Azeri carpets from Azerbaijan, northern Iran and from villages of Georgia and Armenia. Spend the evening on your own trying out some local cuisine of the region. Return to the hotel.

Day5 |
Optional tour- Greater Baku and Absheron peninsula tour
Tuck into a delicious breakfast at the hotel and spend the day at leisure. Alternatively, go on an optional tour of Greater Baku and the Absheron Peninsula. Begin the tour by visiting the Gobustan National Park. Then, head to the Petroglyphs Museum and explore petroglyphs dating back to 10,000 BC. Continue to the mud volcanoes in Gobustan Reserve. Later, drive to the famous Ateshgah, located in Surakhany village. Then, visit Yanar Dag Mountain which is the most famous and popular tourist site of the “eternal flame” in Azerbaijan. It is rather a hill with natural gas burning on its slope since centuries. There is no seepage of mud or liquid, which distinguishes it from the nearby mud volcanoes. Only a handful of fire mountains exist today in the world, and most are located in Azerbaijan. After the tour, return to Baku.
