First stop, in the heart of the city is the historic center - the Old Town. If you want to spend your days learning about the local culture, history, food, and shopping, here’s where you’d probably spend most of your time. Check out the Golden Roof, which is perhaps the city’s most popular attraction. The alcove balcony has garnered fame not just for its embellished roof, but also for its intricate decor and backstory which can be explored in the adjoining museum.

Next, explore the various architectural styles the city and its buildings have to offer. Don't miss its famous Imperial Palace, which is open to visitors who want to have a look at the 18th century Baroque style state rooms'. Equally impressive is Empress Elisabeth’s 19th century restored apartment and the Gothic City Tower standing 150 feet tall. The Court Church, an establishment originally built as a memorial and place of burial for the Emperor Maximilian I, retains the 16th century Gothic style of architecture. It surprisingly doesn't enshrine the body of the emperor, however, the church houses an ornate marble cenotaph and 28 marvelous bronze statues among other stunning architectural pieces.

Further into the city, explore more of the Baroque architecture by strolling through the streets of Maria-Theresien-Straße where you can have a taste of the local Apfelstrudel or Schlutzkrapfen. Stop by the Roman inspired Triumphal arch, and visit the St. Jacob's Cathedral which houses the phenomenal Mariahilf by Lucas Cranach which was brought to the city as a gift to Archduke Leopold V.

For the evening, we strongly recommend you to stop by the Alpensaal an der Messe Hall, where the Gundolf Family hosts Tyrolean Evenings daily from April to October. These shows present to you in an entertaining and enchanting manner the folk ‘yodeling’, ‘shoe-slapping’, and other traditions of the Tyrolean culture. This enthralling folk show has been a constant ambassador representing the local culture to national and international tourists since 1967.
