Air Algérie is the national airline of Algeria, with its head offices in the Immeuble El-Djazair in Algiers, with flights operating from Houari Boumedienne Airport. The airline has been a member of the International Air Transport Association (IATA), the Arab Air Carriers Organization, and the African Airlines Association (AFRAA) since 1968. As of December 2013, Air Algérie is 100% owned by the government of Algeria.
The Fleet
Air Algerie fleet consists of 44 aircraft, comprising of five Airbus A330-200s, seven ATR 72-500-12s and one ATR 72-600s. It also operates five Boeing 737-600, seventeen Boeing 737-800-17s and three Boeing 767-300s.
Destinations
Air Algérie serves 39 international destinations in 28 countries across Europe, North America, Africa, Asia and the Middle East. It offers domestic services to 32 airports and spans a domestic network that comprises of 30 destinations within Algeria. In addition, it serves an international network of 39 more cities. The airline is the leading operator for flights between Algeria and Spain, and six of ten of its international routes, with highest seat availability, serve France.
On Board Facilities
The airline offers two types of cabins, Business Class and Economy. Flights that offer Business Class use the Airbus A330-200, which has reclining seats of up to 118 degrees and an express drink that is served shortly after takeoff. It currently does not have an audio system. However, if you are travelling in the Boeing 767-300, Boeing 737-800 or Boeing 737-600, you can enjoy the reclining seats with an audio system as well. The airline offers a selection of newspapers on board as well as the Tassili magazine, specially designed for passengers. Meals and drinks are served, depending on the duration of the flight, although some refreshments are served on most flights. There are special menu items for children as well. You can also take on some retail therapy during your trip with the selection of perfumes, alcohol and other products available at duty free rates.
