Established 24 years ago in 1992, Onur Air is a low-cost airline of Turkey. The airline has its headquarters in Technical Hangar B at Istanbul Ataturk Airport. Onur Air caters flights to domestic destinations including a few charter flights. Onur means self-esteem in Turkish which had head offices before at Florya, Bakirkoy in Istanbul. In 1996, Ten Tour took the ownership of the airline. Between 1998-99 the fleet size reduced from 13 to 9. But after the recession, the fleet size grew again.
The fleet
At present, the fleet size of the airline is 30. All the present aircraft come from Airbus family. This includes Airbus A320-200, A321-100, A321-200, A330-200 and A 330-300. Since the beginning, the airline owned McDonnell Douglas MD-82, 83 and 88. Now, all these aircraft have retired or have been replaced. The airline started its operations with a wet-leased Airbus A320 which flew from Ercan, Cyprus. By the end of 1995, 9 aircraft were included.
Destinations
Onur Air flies to 30 destinations across the globe. Besides domestic, the airline also flies to Asia and Europe. The airline launched scheduled flights on 9 December 2003. The airline wants to become the most preferred airline in Turkey. The airline carried 16 million passengers since 2011. Since then it became the first private carrier in passenger terms.
Business Class
OnurAir has a Loyalty Program called OnurExtra. The passengers can take advantage of this program for airline’s premium services. The passengers can register on the official website to enrol. The loyalty program provides quick reservations, no restrictions on time and capacity. The program also provides access to buy tickets for your family members. The airline also runs several campaigns which provide opportunity to the travelers to earn extra points.
Onboard Facilities
The airline has an in-flight magazine designed and published by Onur Communications since 2004. The magazine is available in both English and Turkish languages. The meals are available in both hot and cold as per the choice of the passengers. The domestic passengers can carry 15 kgs of baggage. But, extra payment will have to be done if carrying extra luggage.
Online booking and Check In
The airline provides online check-in services to reduce the time for the passengers. If the passengers only have hand luggage they can proceed to the security check immediately.
