Founded in 1987 and headquartered in Kifisia, a suburb of Athens, Aegean Airlines is the largest Greek airline by the total number of passengers carried, number of destinations served and fleet size. It has a Star Alliance membership and operates scheduled and charter services from Athens and Thessaloniki to other major Greek destinations, as well as a number of European destinations. It has its main hub in Athens International Airport in Athens, with a secondary hub at Thessaloniki International Airport.
The Fleet
All aircraft in Aegean’s fleet are equipped with safety systems, including the ACAS II (Airborne Collision Avoidance System), the EGPWS (Enhanced Ground Proximity Warning System) and the DFGS (Digital Navigation System). Aegean Airlines fleet comprises 25 Áirbus A320s, 4 A321s and 1 A319.

Domestic destinations served by the airline include Alexandroupolis, Chios, Athens, Chania, Chios, Corfu, Heraklion, Ioannina, Kalamata, Kos, Mykonos, Mytilene, Rhodes, Santorini, Skyros and Thessaloniki. On Board Facilities
A variety of snacks, sandwiches, light meals, coffee and soft drinks are served on board, depending on the destination. You can even leaf through the Aegean Airlines Blue magazine to keep yourself occupied. On international flights, you can browse through the Shop on Board magazine, with its selection of designer perfumes, cosmetics and accessories at very tempting prices. Shop on Board is updated twice each year.
Ground Facilities
Aegean Business Lounge is available for all Business Class travellers. Here, you can enjoy a hot coffee or a snack from the buffet and can even use a special area for urgent phone calls. You also get internet access and special lockers for your luggage. The airline also has hassle-free check-in facilities.
Before You Leave Home
Check the list of restricted items before you pack your luggage. Adhere to the baggage allowance limit of 2 bags of up to 32 kg each for Business Class and 1 bag of up to 23 kg for Economy Class. It is advisable to opt for pre-purchase of additional baggage if you find that your luggage weighs more than the maximum allowance, since pre-purchase will cost you €40 for every extra kilo, while the charge at the airport is €70. Additionally, ensure that you check the flight status before you plan the time you should leave home.
