Founded on September 30, 1957; Austrian Airlines AG is the flag carrier of Austria and a subsidiary of the renowned Lufthansa Group. The airline is headquartered in the grounds of Vienna International Airport in Schwechat and is also a member of the Star Alliance. Since July 1, 2012 and until March 31, 2015 all flights of Austrian Airlines are operated by subsidiary Tyrolean Airways under the brand name Austrian. The fleet of Austrian Airlines Group currently comprises of 80 aircraft with a long haul fleet of 5 Boeing 777-200 ERs and 6 Boeing 767-300 ERs, and a short and middle haul fleet of 29 Airbus A321/A320/A319s, 22 Fokker F100/F70s and 18 Bombardier Q400s.
Destinations
The Austrian route network focuses on Eastern Europe and the Middle East. The airline operates scheduled services to over 130 destinations and has its hub at Vienna International Airport, with a focus on Innsbruck Airport, Graz Airport and Salzburg Airport. The top sectors for Austrian Airlines are Vienna to Frankfurt, Frankfurt to Vienna, Vienna to Zurich and Munich to Vienna, where it operates 71, 71, 48 and 39 weekly flights, respectively. They also have occasional flights from Iasi to Vienna and Chicago to Los Angeles.
