Delta Air Lines

    Delta Air Lines, Inc, was incorporated on June 17, 1929, with its headquarters in Atlanta, Georgia. Today, the company stands as a result of several mergers, one of the most noticeable and largest being the one with Northwest Airlines in 2010. Delta is among the six oldest airlines operating around the world, and the oldest operating airliner in the USA. The company’s owes its roots to Huff Daland Dusters, which was founded in 1924. In 2013, Delta Air was named the world’s largest airline, based on the number of passengers carried, which was 120.6 million for that year. Headed by Richard H Anderson as the CEO and Edward Bastian as President, the airline reported a net income of $3.4 billion in 2013.

    Fleet

    Delta operates around 764 aircraft, out of which it owns 583 and has taken a lease for the remaining 181. The airplanes have been manufactured by Boeing, Airbus and McDonnell Douglas. The company operates the largest fleet of Airbus A330s and Boeing 767s in the USA; and the largest fleet of McDonnell Douglas MD-88s, Boeing 757s and McDonnell Douglas MD-90 aircraft in the world. The B747–400 and B767–300 are the oldest fleet maintained and the airline plans to replace these with Airbus A350-900s and Airbus A330neos, which will be delivered in 2017 and 2019, respectively.

    Destinations

    Delta Air Lines and its sister companies fly over 5,400 daily flights, serving 333 destinations nationally and internationally, in 64 countries spread over six continents. Its domestic hubs are located in Atlanta, Detroit, Minneapolis, New York (LGA), New York (JFK), Salt Lake City, Los Angeles, Cincinnati, Seattle and Boston. International hubs are located in Paris, Amsterdam and Tokyo. In 2000, the airline founded the SkyTeam Alliance, with member airlines including Air France. It also has codeshare agreements with many other airlines.

    Delta Sky Priority® is available to Business and First Class passengers on domestic long-haul and international flights.
